A Brighter Blindside Photoblog by Mohammed Adenwala

"It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary." -David Bailey

Having heard that, I realize I have a LONG ways to go to become a good photographer. Before I continue, I hope I didn’t offend any painters by that quote. For the record, I actually love painting as well! But this site is about photography so I’ll stick to that topic…

So why do I have a photoblog? Because I used to think that I wouldn’t be challenged with anything non-math/science related. So I became a software programmer and stopped using the right side of my brain. But now I’m unbalanced and tired of all that analytical junk all the time and am taking photography more seriously as a result. You know, to help balance things out.

Now, like the quote said, everything is so ordinary. But every now and then, I have my moments where I am able to capture the ordinary in a not-so-ordinary way, and I’m finding those moments just as rewarding to me as solving those complex algorithms. Infact, those moments are so addictive to me and they are motivation to make this “hobby” a bigger piece of my life. The problem is that I just can’t seem to do it when I want to (I blame that on overuse of my left brain and losing my creativity and imagination from all the number crunching). So the goal of this photoblog is to bring my left brain up to the same level as my right, help rejuvenate my imagination, teach myself to look at things holistically instead of analytically, and maybe one day, make this into my career. I guess I’ll be tracking my progress through this blog. So stay tuned!

Thanks everyone for your support!
